HOMELESSNESS RISK AMONG YOUNG GAY AND BISEXUAL MEN IN NEW YORK CITY

This qualitative study seeks to explore major individual, sociocultural, and economic factors related to homelessness and housing instability among young gay and bisexual men, ages 18 to 24, in New York City. Through participant observations, field observations, and in-depth qualitative interviews with 20 Latino young gay men who have experienced homelessness and their service providers, this study attempts to explore the relation between housing instability, sexual orientation, and family and personal history. In addition, it seeks to investigate the impact of housing instability on mental health outcomes, HIV/STIs, and substance use.
